So you are looking for a NiCad or lithium ion pack I assume? I had never seen one of those other than the yellow rechargeable one I showed you. Would be a neat concept if one were available. Something similar to this is what I used in the yellow adapter:

I use EBL or Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries in the black holder. Works fine with the 164. I charge them using an external charger and not in the scanner. I have been doing this for years, perhaps more than a decade. The Eneloop are better as the EBL loose their charge faster even when not connected to anything. I always carried a spare set of four AA in a holder in my vehicle as well to swap out.

* I switched to the Uniden 125AT which only uses two AA batteries and has a USB power input on the side. A small battery bank keeps it powered up fine using a short USB cable.

Just make sure you don't have any coins in that pocket with the batteries. Don't ask me how I know this...

I have a cord like this for my bc346xt, it allows you to plug your scanner into a power bank and run off of it. I also do the same with my 436hp using the factory cord. It can run for a few days straight on my 20,000mAh power bank before dying, longer if I held on 1 frequency and power saving mode was on. I would think the 164 wouldn't last quite as long as it uses 4 batteries vs 3..
