I bought the PRO-164 refurbished today, along with the cord so I can hook it up to the computer.

I updated it to the latest firmware, 1.08.

I am trying to get the FD and PD programmed into my scanner using the software PSREDIT300. It looks easy to use, but I still have never programmed a scanner. ( You can get the PSREDIT300 here PSREdit300 - Configuration Editor for the PSR-300, PSR-400, PRO-163, PRO-164, PRO-97, PRO-2055 and MFJ-8322 Scanners)

I am trying to program these: Roseville Trunking System, Roseville, California - Scanner Frequencies

They use Motorola Type II smartnet, any help would be fantastic...

I uploaded a screenshot of what I have so far, can anybody tell me if this is correct, or close to being correct... I am not sure if it is working as it seems to be a slow night. I have heard one transmission from PD Patrol 1 channel.

You must got it working ok. At least you heard something. This may help you if you need it in the future.

Easier to Read Pro-164/163 PSR300/C/400/C Scanner Manual

That looks good to me but I wouldn't know what to look for. I program my Pro 106 by hand.

Not only did the owners manual not make any sense to me, but the easier to read guide didn't either. I am a real newb when it comes to radios and programming this kind of stuff. Just wanted to make sure it looked good and I would get everything.

Yeah, It looks right to me.. I use ARC300 for programing my Trunking systems, basically because it does it for you! It kinda takes the fun out of programming but I only use it for Trunked Systems.

You could try using ARC300 if you feel like you've messed up. - www.radioreference.com/radioshack

Download and install - Select the scanner your using which is the PRO-164

Once your in the program, Navigate to "Internet" on the toolbar and select RadioReference Import.

This will bring you to the Radio Reference Database and you can actually download the frequencies for your county/town and directly upload them into your scanner. This includes Conventional, Agencies, and Trunked Systems. It will program them exactly how they are suppose to go into your scanner.

After you have selected what you want to import go to "Scanner" on the toolbar and select "Upload to Scanner"

I have no doubt in my mind it will be in there correctly then!

"Fun" and "Programming" do not belong in the same sentence! :)

We are defiantly not related. :D

You have the mode set to open, if you just want to hear the TG's you have programmed change it to closed.

Also, you have the system set to default (see if it has a custom or rebanded choice, I don't use that software) and pick the rebanded band plan (system on the link was rebanded).

Where do you see the system is on default?

I see what you are talking about, the problem is there is no rebanding option, only open tables or splinter. I am going to assume it is multi tables as the other software I was looking at did not have multi tables.

gobigred5, do you have the lastest firmware updates loaded into the 164? If not, the rebanded systems won't work correctly. Go to the RS website and get the latest update for the scanner. It just might help.
