I just purchased a pro-164. I used to have an AOR8200,Uniden scanners.
I have to say I am a very Technical Person my education has been around computer science's and information technology. I seem to find the directions for this scanner to be well for lack of better term anal.
I have managed to program and add tags for two frequencies for the local police here in town. But that's on my own the manual if very difficult nothing is really explained very well. CTCS was not as easy as the manual mention but I figured it out.
I am new here to the forums and this is where I need some help with.
1. Beside this website what are some other website that you recommend for frequencies postings and forums?
2. Radio Schack sells the usb/mini jack programming cable for $34 if I can recall correctly, are there any alternatives any cheaper cables I don't mind spending the money but if some other site sells the same thing cheaper I would rather save a few bucks.
Butel back in the day was the source for getting a good software to program my aor8200 and also my uniden bc780 and they where awesome. But what other software are any of you folks using for this scanner
