Hello, would anyone happen to know? I am doing a discriminator tap on my realistic PRO-164 SCANNER, I know that one side of the resistor goes to T4 but where does the other side go? Looking online it says i need a 3.5mm mono jack with switch to do the other side of the resister. Is that true? and i cant use one from the scanner itself? and last question is do i need a computer to listen to it when im done or will the scanner just work by itself?

Thank You, Ken

The D tap is for taking signals to a PC via a line in jack (3.5mm) so that's what's needed. Drill a hole and install one on the back of the scanner. Are you following any specific plans or pictures? The PC program needed is DSD or DSD plus. You can hear NXDN,DMR,P25 this way. Understand your Pro-164 might not be able to tune the flex step freqs? So like everything else there are limits to what you're gonna hear. Before you do any of this I would study up on Discriminator tap installs for many model scanners. I have tapped my bct-15 and my pro-95. They work but like I said the tuning ability of the scanner comes into play.

Before you get too involved, enter the frequency you want to monitor and see if it will "take" in the scanner. The digits after the ".", if they are able to be input or change after entering. If not it wont really work....
