Hello all, Just got the PRO-197 and in reviewing the search function, the manual goes into dedicated searches (pg 57) and the various types. It is clear enough in indicating how to access the SRCH button options and the types available, but does not go into how to make the scanner activate the selected search, be it a limit search or a band search. Is there a soft key that will be selectable to start the desired search ( I do not have the scanner yet, I printed out the manual from their website)? If I enter the frequencies, does the search automatically begin after the values have been input? This is replacing a PRO-96 so I am used to the "old school" programming, but have decided to educate myself ahead of time on the newer Object based system as I want to be able to use the newer system effectively.

Thanks in advance

Mark

In the manual where it tells you how to setup each search, immediately after each search setup, it tells you how to activate the search. Starting at page 51.

It takes a bit of different thinking, but all you are doing when you create a search is making another scannable object, just like a conventional frequency or a trunking system. Make the search, assign it to a list, and scan that list to use the search. I have my 197 setup with both a Signal Stalker and a custom search, each assigned to a different list (in this case, lists 11 and 12). While scanning, all I have to do to use either one of them is just turn on that list.

Hope this helps!
