pro 2051 backup

hello all i hope this is the right place to post i have the pro 2051 scanner that i want to backup using the data cable to my computer do i need software to backup this or can i just copy it to my computer ? also radio shack says that the data cable has been Discontinued 20-289 ?

Sure it will, just use the mono cable adapter supplied.

thank you my friend that might do it because i went to the radio shack web site and they said this one will not work

Don't mix apples and oranges. You MIGHT need newer drivers for the USB cable - the link is provided to the website so you can get them. I seem to remember a few folks needing them so the link is provided.

The software to back up and reload the scanner is a SEPERATE issue. AFAIK it's the only program that works with the 2051. Manufacturers had a very hard time getting the protocol to work for this scanner, as it's evidently a mix between GRE and Uniden commands. I know of at least 2 suppliers that gave up after numerous attempts.

I use the radio shack usb cable and scancat lite and it works fine
