So, this is my second scanner of this type. I had a 2050, and now a 2052, and had the same problem in both.

The 2050, it seemed as if the Volume dial never worked...as soon as you'd turn it on, it seemed like it was on max volume.

The 2052 had a working volume dial, but after a short time, I had the same thing. Turn it on, and it was as if it was up all the way.

The other day, I turned it on, and the volume knob works again fine, and I can't figure out what causes it. Anyone else had a probelm similar?

Thanks!

It could be as simple as a dirty pot (volume control),the worse thing would be a bad pot itself or even a possible cold solder on the PC board where the pot mounts. Normally a dirty pot will have a scratchy sound when you turn it up and down. A dirty pot can be cleaned by spraying tuner cleaner in the pot itself and working it up and down.

In both scanners...I'd hear the initial click of the dial going into the off/on position, but no noise afterwards.

Very bizarre, I could flip it on, and I could leave it right after the click, or turn it all the way up, and same volume, all of a sudden, the one now seems to have decided to correct itself, and the volume knob works fine. Just found it weird to have the same problem on different variations of the same scanner
