Pro 652 Reception problems

I looked at that link, it was not very easy to understand so I dug out the pamphlet that came with the scanner and I reset it by turning it on, pressing zero, then 1 then ENT

Does that accomplish what we are talking about here?

It did clear everything and I had to reload it via my computer.

The page you provided a link to seemed to be asking me to press program while in welcome mode and then GLOB and then I could not understand what it was telling me after that.

It does not seem to be working a lot better than it was. I am still getting those ghost signals where it stops like it is receiving something but then it is just clicks and dead air.

Is there any other settings I should try changing?

Yep!

Might try moving the scanner around in your house to see if the problem gets better. Other than that, the only thing I can think of would be a directional outdoor antenna ...

I got the 652 also and have the same problems. When I getry digital signals they are choppy. Might have to sell this on ebay and buy a different model. What model would you recommend?

mnrick is the system EDACS with provoice? I am new to this but seems that the PRO652 does not decode Provoice transmissions but will stop on control channel. I don't know I have been doing a lot of reading the past few days and may be getting things mixed up. We have an EDACS system with Provoice and Analog mixed. My Pro652 seems to pick up the analog but doesn't seem to pick up any Provoice. Maybe somebody else can chime in on this.

You have to do FUNC PGM then F3(GLOB) you should find it in there. I have not messed with those settings.

Thank you for the advice. I reset the RSSI thresholds on my 652 to the values that flythunderbird used. The signal bar now shows 5 bars, instead of 1 bar and, the reception is much better. Before I changed the values I wrote down the factory values. I did this in case things didn't work out I could always go back to the factory values. Thank you to all.

Pro 652 reception issue

Hey guys and gals... I have the lovely radioshack pro 652 and been having read reception issues since day one. I only show an S for strength and 1 bar flashes. Channels sometimes come in clear and other times they are choppy. I've tried different 800mhz antennas with no change. I have digital and conv programed... am I missing something?

I'm having all sorts of issues with a PRO-652.

1. Intermittent low audio on all conventional & P25. Some times a local Motorola Smartnet system sounds good. I've tried an external speaker and it didn't help. I put the speaker in the headphone jack and that worked.

2. Not receiving some Smartzone systems and P25 systems at all.

3. Won't scan past conventional channels. It's like the squelch is stuck. Adjusted the squelch with no change.

All the these problems have been intermittent. They come and go. I've done resets and re-programmed and sometimes it helps. Sometimes it doesn't. Looked for a firmware upgrade and from what I can tell there is not one.
