Hello! I have a Pro-668 and I recently programmed it to scan one of my local digital systems (Type II Smart zone) and when it’s scanning it will lock on to a TG but I will not hear any audio, every now and then I will hear audio but 90% of the time I do not. I know the TG’s are not encrypted because I have my 436 scanning them along with it and it gets them perfectly fine. Any suggestions?

Which system? Can you provide a link? Has your 668 had the Whistler Legacy Upgrade. Please attach your iSCAN or EZ Scan programming file so I can take a look at it.

My guess is it is a simulcast issue if you are listening to the Winston/Salem Forsyth tower, the Radio Shack PRO668 and Whistler scanners do a terrible job with simulcast systems. Try moving it to a different location or take it out with you and see if it improves any, with simulcast location can be a major factor.

No I haven’t done the upgrade as this was given to me and I have other scanners that I mainly use and this was kind of a side project. How could I attach the file? I don't see an option to in the programming software?

In the Radio Shack PRO-668 iSCAN programming software, take the configuration you use to program the scanner and save it to archive. Click on Attach files on your post and open the archive file.
When I try to do that I get this error

Go to FILE tab, scroll down to SAVE TO ARCHIVE, archive configuration, that will create a zip file you can attach depending how big the your programming is.
Since I can't get it to work here some screen shots of what I have programmed, if you need to see something else let me know!

Simulcast
there is that nasty word.
even a change of weather might set it off.
try moving the radio, well really the antenna, it might help
Yeah simulcast is definitely a scanners worst nightmare, I might send it off to get the legacy upgrade as I’ve heard that can help and it would also be convenient to have an updated database.

I see 2 problems. First, you have only 2 of the 4 control channel capable frequencies. You need to add 853.275 and 853.675.

Second, the system is using rebanded frequencies. You need to change Trunking Tables from Default to Custom. Click on Edit and enter this custom 800 MHz rebanded band plan.:

Thank you! I'll try that out, the control channels I put in 2 sites to see if that would help any but I don't think it did.
