If the PRO-668 has the official upgrade, the bootloader will be v2.0. There is still a standalone CPU updater which must be used with legacy scanners: CPU Updater WS1080 (Boot 2.0)
Try removing the uSD card from the radio, and inserting in your laptop and try it in that configuration. My Windows 10 computer isn't recognizing my scanner
Did you ever get it fixedI have been attempting to update the firmware on my Radio Shack PRO-668 scanner using the CPUUpdater software provided by Whistler. I followed the instructions to enter CPU update mode by holding down the menu button and plugging in the USB cable. The device successfully entered CPU update mode, but when I tried to proceed with the firmware update, I encountered an error message stating, "The scanner currently contains no CPU application code! This update utility contains version 4.8."
Unfortunately, the update process seems to have wiped the CPU firmware from the scanner, leaving it in an unusable state. The device remains stuck in CPU update mode, and I have been unable to revert it back to its normal operation or successfully apply the firmware update. I've tried several troubleshooting steps, including unplugging the device, using different USB cables, and attempting to reinitialize the update process, but nothing has worked. Windows also fails to recognize the device, making it impossible to access the scanner's file system or perform a manual reset through the settings menu.
The link doesn't workfor another datapoint on my 668, i absolutely sent it to whistler for dmr, it seemed like the only way i could have some assurance it would continue to be supported at all and get database updates.
on boot it proclaims itself to be a whistler product ever since.
Which link?The link doesn't work
I sent a message to the wrong personWhich link?
I downloaded the v2.0 legacy CPU updater from the Whistler website and it seemed to download normally. Does your scanner have the official upgrade?I sent a message to the wrong person
Thank you I just sent them an email. I should have spent more money up front on a modern scanner! There is a Support Email post for contact

I just checked and they are still doing it. Open this link and click on Contact at top. The Whistler Group Department will be Legacy Upgrade.I'm in the same boat as the original poster. Does anyone know if Whistler still offers the upgrade? The links no longer work.
