I aquired an old PRO-7B scaner for a couple bucks. Not worth much but i always found the crystal scanners neat. Came with 4 crystals installed. one happens to be my local weather channel, so at least I could test it.

My original intention was to load it with the frequencies for the canadian weather channels and just keep it in my truck. However from what i have found, it doesnt seem they make crystals for all 7 of the channels.
Just 162.55Mhz.

The list is as follows.
162.400 MHz
162.425 MHz
162.450 MHz
162.475 MHz
162.500 MHz
162.525 MHz
162.550 MHz

Would it be worth getting custom crystals? I havent looked into pricing. Probably cost way more than the
scanner is worth. IIRC the scanner has a 10.7Mhz IF.

Might just be better off keeping it as a novelty and use it to listen to the local weather.

It's probably not worth the money.

Back in the crystal radio era, only 3 NOAA frequencies existed (in the US at least).
This is why you are more likely to see 162.4, 162.475, and 162.55 commonly used in larger cities.

The other frequencies were added after synthesized radios came along and are seen used more in rural areas.

For these reasons, finding used crystals other than those three frequencies will be next to impossible.

You can have crystals made, but usually start at around 5 bucks each on eBay.

If you are just interested in monitoring the weather you can get handheld weather radios. Just put in "handheld weather radios" in your search engine and you will find all kinds and all prices.
