Hey everyone, will my old Pro 83 pick up Sussex County police dispatch for Crisfield or Princess Anne Etc the Sheriff's Department's very active they do a great job down there and I'd like to get them to

I'm getting older now and I don't know if I'm going to be able to learn all about the new way scanners work with trunk systems

Thank you

Crisfield and Princess Anne are in Somerset County, and the Sheriff's Department for the county is encrypted - thus you would need an authorized radio to receive them. The state police in Princess Anne is not encrypted, but would require a modern scanner / radio to receive them - and that would cost several hundred dollars at a minimum.

The locations you want to hear are in Maryland, Somerset County, not Sussex which is Delaware. These systems are trunked, using P25 protocol and the Sheriff's department is encrypted, which means no scanner can listen to it. Bottom line is you would need a much more modern radio to hear anything. Sorry.

Do those towns have their own police departments? If they do, it’s likey that the operate on the county’s p25p2 system, and also likely thay would be encrypted. Bottom line is that you cannot receive them at all because the county leadership does not want you listening for whatever reason. In contrast, the state police are not encrypted, but would require a new scanner that costs $400+ and are not easy to set up. The good thing is there are people that could help you.
