nice basic trunktracking scanner... depends on your area though if it will be usefull

note
it will not do digital / OPP
it will not do VHF trunking (EMS ambulance Fleetnet etc)
it will not do EDACS, LTR, only motorola 800 mhz only I believe (type i ii or hybrid)
it will not do alpha tags (no names, all you see is the TG number)
it will only trunk one 800mhz control tower at a time (you can NOT monitor 2 sites, or a trunking system and a conventional freqs at the same time).
those battery packs are a pain (replacements can be found but not as easy as AA's).

That being said its a very good basic/starter analog 800mhz trunking or conventional radio... very reliable, very solid, good audio from it and can be found for cheap. So if you have an analog 800mhz system and you can get this radio for cheap then go for it

It was my first scanner (bought about 10 years ago) and i still have it/use it.

if police in your area are digital, than you won't find a cheap scanner to listen to them :( Digital scanners start at around $500

The PRO-90/BC235 is THE original trunktracking scanner but much as
I like mine, realize its increasing limitations as noted. You would be better
off to find a BC245 cheap if you don't want digital; at least it will do Fleetnet
VHF analog trunking and EDACS.

If you need OPP you need a digital.
A 245 is also a great suggestion by DaveH just for analog fleetnet ambulance

I sell some used digitals..

Uniden 396T for about $400 scanner ac adapter antenna only + shipping
