Replaced mine through my local Radio Shack a month ago. Store ordered through national parts that shipped it directly to my house. Sorry, but I don't have the part # handy, but it wasn't hard to find. Possibly in the manual even. Good luck.

If you go to a Radio Shack, Radio Shack Unlimited may still have them.

You might need a store manager since most sales associates are not familiar with RSU.

I did the same thing...I was able to get a replacement batt holder thru the store, they shipped it right to me. Also, got a an oem home plug for my 2096 after I lost mine (dont ask me how) . I had no choice because RS does not offer a 13.8v adaptaplug ac converter.

Good Luck

If you go to your local RS store, you can still order it as the rechargeable battery holder for the Pro-96. They are the exact same part, catalog number 12228805. You don't even have to mention the Pro-95 (as that might throw them for a loop). Just ask for a replacement piece for the Pro-96, give them the part number and you should be good to go.

Battery holders

The PRO-93, PRO-95, PRO-96 and PRO-97 all use the same battery holders. But I've had them look up parts for the '95 & '97 before and they came back as different numbers. So if they tell you they can't get one part or whatever, just try looking under another scanner.

Any ideas on where to get one of these nowadays? I was unable to order one at the local shack. I read online that RSU no longer exists. I may resort to the mod, but it would be nice if there was some way to buy a stock yellow holder.

Have you even tried? Not sure where you heard that "RSU no longer exists" but that sourse is WRONG. RSU DOES EXIST, I Know it does as I work for the Shack and as others have said in their replies to you.

As my post states, yes I have tried, both at a storefront and online.

Here is the link to where I read online that RSU no longer exists (7th comment to the article):

As far as what "others have said in their replies" to me, I'm not sure you EVEN TRIED to read as there is only one reply to me, and that HELPFUL person directed me GRE America, with a link (Thank you Eng74).

The following information is right out of the Radio Shack in house system this morning. Take this information with you to the store. The part can be ordered from the store sales system using the GOLD "RSU" key (Just above "F3") on the store POS. This is in the Company owned stores. Not sure what franchise stores can do.

The part of RSU refered to here was the area like Mouser, Digikey, or Allied Electronics. The replacement parts area of RSU is alive and well.
