Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hytera HP682 Battery Drain when Powered Off:

Both Radios:
Model # HP682-00000000-M000DC-Um-0-D
Firmware A2.5.09.015

I have two HP682s but only one of them drains the battery when it's powered off.

I have the same code plug in both radios. Battery Save is set to 1-4 and 5 seconds. I have looked through the codeplug and I did notice under Conventional > Gen Settings > Accessories, that GPIO Pins was active for "ACC TK" and Debounce was checked. I changed that to None. Then on Friday, I left the one radio powered off for about 6 hours with a fully charged battery. After that 6 hours I turned the radio back on and its down to 1 battery bar. The other HP682 works just fine and doesn't drain it's battery.

Anyone have any idea what the problem is?
Thanks in advanced

Swap batteries to see if problem follows. When batteries age out self discharging is not uncommon.

Measure and compare resistance at radio battery terminals when switched off. be aware most VOM meters have positive on the black lead when in ohms scale. so check yours and if that is the case, black lead on + terminals and red on - terminal.

I don't know what any of that means.

He means measure resistance between the plus and minus pins on the back of the radio with battery removed. Open or infinite resistance means no drain while some resistance would mean drain. Most radios have some drain because the off position does not physically break the circuit. When I turn my PD982 off it makes shutdown sounds after knob is clicked off which requires power.

Again, I don't know what any of that means. I guess I'll need to take it to someone to have it tested.

Apologies i cant elaborate more and it may not be your specific problem but talking to my local Hytera dealer the other day they also mentioned a variety of issues with the new H series suscribers and specifically a sporadic battery issue with the HP682. They had been in regualr discussion with the factory as a long time dealer and experiencing a reluctance to admit a problem or commit to a fix. The other issues were hardware quality related versus the orginal MD/PD generation. We were bouncing all over the place in the discussion and as i have old generation hardware didnt think to ask further about it. Please do let us know if you identify a specific issue or fix.
