When I am scanning banks no problem, but when I tune manual to a three digit channel I have programmed, after about two seconds, it just shuts down completely! I have to turn it off and back on to get it to work, if I go back to scanning it stays on, if I leave it on the manually tuned channel it shuts off everytime, am I doing something wrong or does it sound like something has gone wrong? I hit manual, three digits, then manual, then it shuts down. thanks.

Just out of curiousity, does it also shut down in 3 seconds if you are in manual mode BUT the channel is talking? My first thought was something wrong with "power save" mode; but the time seems too quick. It does sound like a malfunction to me.

INSIDE the mesa!
This sounds familiar.
I had a scanner that did that.
If you have the software and cable perhaps you could save all your data and then do a hard reset on the scanner and see if that helps.

Was going to try new batteries this morning to see if that would work, didn't think they were low, then the low battery alarm came on this morning, changed them right after and it seems to work now! Previously if it had static it would stay on, but then if no static thats when it would shut off. Guess I will have to start using rechargeables, I only got four days out of these and that was only using few hours a day at most. Is that normal? Thanks

Actually you do not need any software if you have another PRO-95. Just clone the broken '95, reset it, and clone it back.

This leads me to believe that the scanner was last programmed by ScanCat and/or the low battery settings are incorrect. The low battery indication should come on long before the scanner just "shuts off".

You can get yourself a wall wart and run it from that. Or you can purchase a pack of rechargeables with a charger. Actually, get 2 sets of batteries. Then you can be powering the scanner from a freshly charged set while the "dead" batteries are in the charger. Whether 4 days is long or not depends on how many hours you powered it each day. I run my scanners 24/7 and I usually do not get 24 hours on a charge (or set of alkaline batteries).

It was originally programmed by ScanCat, but I had last programmed it with pro95. Is there a way using that to change the low battery settings?

My bad. I keep confusing the PRO-95/WIN95 with the PRO-97/WIN97. When I used ScanCat with the '97 it altered the low battery setting incorrectly. Using WIN97 worked correctly, and they are user editable. However, there is no such setting in WIN95. I don't know if the low battery settings can be user set in the '95.

Both mine and my buddies PRO-95 do the exact same thing. Scanning, no problem. But if you hit manual and stop on a channel (does not seem to matter if there is audio or not), the scanner shuts off completely. It is not a battery thing, as the batteries I have last for 2-3 days, and the battery low alert is working fine.

I thought maybe it was just mine, but my buddy told me about his, and now I noted this thread!!! Something is wrong here.

My suspicion was some kind of battery save mode kicking in, but as of yet I can find no setting/adjustment. I use the WIN95 software.

Anybody else?
