Pro 95 vs BC246T

I now own both of the scanners and was wanting others input as to which they think is the better scanner and why? Myself I like the BC246T for size, trunking ablity, close capture feature and the new virtual memory fuction of the scanner. On my Pro-95 like the Win95 software great stuff. I have noticed the pro 95 is often deaf to things my 246 is picking up any one else notice this??

I too have a Pro 95 and a 246T. I love the PL tones in the 246T. I never knew the flexibility that they offer. I have found that in my case, with the stock antennas on both units that the Pro 95 seems a little bit better in the Air band, but the 246T wins hands down every where else.

Your absolutely correct in your assesment on the 246T system hold times. There is not much difference between 2 seconds or 0 seconds at all. When the 246T sits on a system the quick key number for that system flashes. Just count how many times that system number flashes before it goes onto the next system. I found the system that I have set for 0 seconds flashes 3 times on average, where the next one is set for 2 seconds and flashes 5 times on average. Not much of a difference at all. It says in manual that when you have the system hold time set to 0 for a particular system, it only holds on the system for a minimal time, just long enough to check system activity. Well that is just plain incorrect.

I have 2 systems I monitor at night. One is busy and the other is not so busy. I have the busy one set to 2 seconds, and the other set to 0 seconds. I have been finding that I am missing responses and first parts of transmissions on the busy system because the 246T is taking too long checking out the "not so busy" system that is silent, and set to 0. I am forced to shut off the not so busy system when it is vital I miss no responses on the busy system. For such an advanced scanner as this, it's rather sad really.

There's a few other peeves like, dropped I-calls on Motorola systems, UASD is lacking, and that damn "Frequency found" message for close call. Just display the damn frequency! LOL.

The advantages this scanner has over my others is vast and easily outweighs the peeves, but I hope Uniden fixes these in a firmware upgrade. Cross your fingers.
