Does anybody else with a pro-96 have problems in the 453 mhz band. On some of the frequencies (Ex. 453.35 and 453.800) I hear a humming noise in the backround that sounds like a fan. I reset the scanner and the noise disapears then comes back. I think its really annoying.

I live in the North suburbs so I listen to 453.800 a lot and the other Detroit channels some and have never had a problem with a humming noise. Now dispatchers leaving the transmit bar pushed down for long periods of time, that's a different story!

All UHF freqs must use PL or DPL. Is your 96 programmed with either? This would lock out freq until correct tone is transmitted.

Not that it counts for the med channels, but since the Pro-92 also has PL, DPL capability your comment is pretty confusing. :?

I have the same thing. Turning on or off the PL does not make any difference. The only thing that I have noticed is that different batteries seem to make it come and go. I talked to a RS tech... They said it must be something I am doing because they had not heard of it ever happening.

You forget that the Pro 92 doesn't use CTCSS/DPL when it is on manual, only when it is on scan. Probably why the OP hears other stations on manual but not scan. The Pro 96 uses CTCSS/DPL even when in manual mode.
