I've been needing this cover for quite a while. The posts in the last few days have renewed my intrest in trying to order one again. I took the printed parts list to the local RS about an hour ago and showed the sales person what I wanted. Again, the item is not in stock and NO EDD. Sales person said about all I can do is call the store and have them check on it.

Do these belt clips fit the PRO-97 scanner as well? Looking at the store it seems to be the same thing, for some reason can't order the PRO-97 part anymore since just last year ordered the case for it..

Curious Covers! Some do, some don't ?

That's funny. I have also tried my 96 covers (both early and late production) and my 97 (also earlier and late models) and I don't see any difference between new/old on same models in the layout of the tabs (on the covers) and the slots (on the radio case) from early to later production units. The 96's are exactly the same and my 2 97's are likewise exactly the same. It is the differences in the spacing of these tabs and slots that make it so mine are NOT interchangeable. Maybe they could be JAMMED together but that doesn't seem interchangeable to me. I would find it interesting to hear what others have found and would really like to see some photos of the 96's squarish cover in place on a 97 and the 97's rounded cover in place on a 96. It really strikes me as a curious situation that some folks swear they interchange and yet others have units that do matchup. I really don't think GRE ever changed the case/cover design of either radio during their respective production runs. I have found that the 97 and 106 do interchange with each other but that wasn't really a surprize as both appear to share the same case back parts.

wow the spelling police.............wtf
?
If you read his past post, he started it not me. i was just pointing out that everyone is not perfect. anyhow I think photos would be great as I can see after looking at my 96 and 97 battery covers that they are all most the same but not, my 97 cover fits my PSR-500 just fine, so at this point I just don't know why some 97 will fit a 96 and others will not. I am just stating the facts as how the ones that I own work.

Need a PRO-96 battery cover

So has anyone been able to get one as of march or april of 2009? Seems like there was arguments as to whether or not you could get one or not. If so it is: RSU part number 12410833 COVER ASSY BATTERY found in parts inventory system for ordering a component from the warehouse?

Also what is this for: NP part #DB91385

I guess I could try going back there. Otherwise for now has anyone been able to find it elsewheres? Or Know of one for sale?

If I come across extras I'll buy them for others like the Canadians for example that can't get them.

Thank you very much.

By the way the radio shack guy I had searched many places and mentioned my best bet was RadioReference.com. I thought that was cool. I have met 2 scanner enthusiests in town here that have never even heard of RadioReference.com. I mentioned it to them of course;).
