That's a good sign. What does the radio display just before you do the PGM-FUNC-PGM-PGM key sequence?
>>>
Here's what my radio shows prior to the PGM-FCN-PGM-PGM operation:
M701 ..D.+MO
167.46500
Bank 7 Ch 01
96:SYS715 99%
And the channel is active with control channel data (I couldn't type a little lightning bold next to the channel number above!).

After the program is running, the third line should alternate between "Remote Access" and "*** IN USE ***" at a fast rate. If you are seeing data at all on the computer's screen then the radio and program are definitiely talking. Once there the only issues should be (a) placing the radio on an active control channel and (b) placing the radio in the correct mode via the key sequence.

And that's what has be baffled. I get the radio set up, I get the program started but never see the *** IN USE *** come on. I have tried several cables and three computers with basically the same results. The only trial that had any promise was using my Toshiba laptop and the GFE cable on COM 1, the *** IN USE *** did flash on the radio, but the program was still showing this:
C:\work\pro96dmp\PRO96.CPP(173): Warning, Warning: radio not responding.
C:\work\pro96dmp\PRO96.CPP(136): Worker transitions from eAck to eEnq (0 ms).
C:\work\pro96dmp\PRO96.CPP(136): Worker transitions from eEnq to eAck (500 ms).

It seems to be that the problem is that the radio is not sending data back to the computer for some reason...
Thanks much, Rick for taking time to help me with this...
