Anybody in Sheboygan county using a Pro-96? I have A pro-95 and it works great would love to upgrade to a 96 if it is worth it,,,,,,would love to comments on the Pro-96 in the Sheboygan area.........
Is there a need for the digital trunking yet?? It doesn't look like any municipalities in Wisconsin are using it yet. I plan on waiting a year, then pro-96 will probably be a lot cheaper.
I have looked on the internet and found out so far that the Sheboygan County TRS is using it's Motorola System. So far that I know of the counties in Wisconsin that will be going digital or that are testing digital

Listing of Agencies / System Rumored to be Going to a Digital System
City of Racine Police Department
Dodge County Sheriff
Milwaukee County Trunked Radio System
Washington County Sheriff's Department (Other County agencies??)
Really none of these are probably of any interest to a listener in Kohler.. However I will make some corrections here..
Marinette Sheriff P25 is 100% encrypted WHEN IT'S USED. Not 100% of use on 155.535 is P25. Some is in analog mode but when P25 is used, it is always encrypted. Oconto Co. has interest in a countywide system like Marinette's and will more than likely involve digital for law enforcement.
The WI Statewide 139 MHz system was a test only and never got off the ground. However, look forward to a possible Statewide system in the future involving VHF P25 Trunking. All the other "rumors" are just that and should be treated as hearsay until official.
Lastly, Radio Shack is often a popular place to purchase scanners due to the fact they are the only one that sells them in most cities. Sadly enough, Radio Shack scanners are not always very good units. The Pro-96 is a very fine scanner but is of really no use to a Sheboygan County resident. The BEST handheld scanner on the market today if one does not require digital is the Uniden BC246T. I have owned probably 30 models of scanners over the years and none has come CLOSE to topping this. Not even my beloved BC780's! Look for full digital versions to be released early 2005 with mobile units later on.
Here is some new digital information for Wisconsin.
