I have a new Pro-96 with CPU 1.3 and DSP 1.2.

I am having trouble hearing Westmoreland County, PA APCO-25 digital system while moving in a vehicle. If I come to a complete stop, the audio is good. I have traveled many miles around the county with the same results. I can hear analog signals much better that are miles away.

Any ideas as to what is wrong? Is there going to be a DSP upgrade that will correct this?

You're receiving multisite interference or low signal reception. There isn't anything that can be done short of putting up even more towers.

If you haven't already, turn off your DSP. That will help a lot. Also, if you're not using an external antenna, put one on. For increased performance with portable use, try to 800 MHz Radio Shack antenna - 20-283.

In my note, make that AGC to be turned off, not DSP. I keep making that error.

I use OEM Motorola 800 MHz mobile antennas.

For an idea of mobile antennas look at this site. www.bncantenna.com There is a 23" dual open coil 5db gain 2-2067. May solve your problem. If you monitor all freq ranges then 1-2067 Poor digital audio is caused by lack of siginal. Scanners require a STRONG digital signal to work good.

Good info, but sad that analog works much better than digital.

Since I am new to the scanner, can you tell me how to shutoff the DSP? Is this the func + man?

Ooops. I made another error. In addition to EDITing my last message rather than quoting it, my original error was:
