Just wondering what software works the best for my pro-96??? its new, and if you can get some software for free? Does the pro-106 uploader cable work with the pro-96?? thanks for any help. Mike

No free software AFAIK, but Win96 from Starrsoft is the widely acknowledged champ. The link is in our wiki as well as a little description of what it does - just click on the blue text....73 Mike

The PRO-96 is not new. It was first released near the end of 2003, and has been discontinued.

The [only supported] cable for the PRO-106, the GRE 30-3290 / RS 20-047, works with the PRO-96.

Your right I guess i should say it was still in the box "never used" when givin to me by someone who doesnt know anything about radio's last week ...im learning!!! heheh

Win96 is awesome as is ARC96... Both have awesome features.. The newest release of Win96 has now finally allowed the 96 to display full narrowband VHF at least in the NON Fed range.... Have not tried to set up FED on narrowband VHF with it yet... ARC96 will allow the display to show.. but will lock up the scanner on that bank. This bug is being worked on by the team at Butel...

Yes. The PSR-500/600 come with the (blue) GRE 30-3290. RadioShack sells the (orange) 20-047. Other than the color of the housing, the cables are identical.
