I recently reprogrammed a Pro-96 for a new P25 Phase 1 system in my county.

Mercer County Interoperable Public Safety Radio System Trunking System, Mercer County, New Jersey - Scanner Frequencies

I am having trouble picking up the transmissions on this new system. It will lock in on the talk-group when there is a transmission, however all I get is static or a low humming noise. To my knowledge this model scanner should pick this up without any issues. I have upgraded the firmware to 1.4 as I was told there might be an issue with the old firmware, but no luck

I have other trunking systems in the scanner and they are picking up perfectly with no issues.

Any ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated.

While on the system, push MAN and observe the percent signal your getting. If your close to a tower say within a few miles it should be I feel 90% or so.

This may not be the problem, but many have fallen into this problem,
So many pro96's are long in the tooth and many suffer from 800 MHz drift.
Try doing a search that is 1 MHz below and above from the control channel frequency. If you find your getting a strong signal from the tower off frequency, most likely it needs a vr4 adjustment internally.

Have you tried programming any of the voice channels in as conventional channels?

That should eliminate 'drift' as being the problem.

I would think that if you are hearing other P25 systems without any problem, then this one should work as well.

Also.......when the scanner stops on a talk group, look at the frequency on the display to see if it matches a valid voice channel in the database.

I'm everywhere Focker!
Couple of things to add...

I see almost all of the Law Enforcement TG's are listed as being encrypted.

Judging by the WACN this is a Harris system, they sometimes don't broadcast the bandplan so check to be sure it matches what's in the database (assuming that is correct).

From what I can tell, the second line of the table listed on the database page isn't used.
