Hi, I'm very new to this scanner system and have watched quite a few programming videos, but still I'm having issues pulling it together. I have a premium Radio Ref membership and the import doesn't seem to be coming over as per the followed instructions. Does anyone have the capability to remote dial in to assist me? I've reached out to the supplier to confirm that I have the correct equipment. I've called Unication for assistance without a return call. Any help or recommendation would be great.

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Unication G3+, P25 Trunking Programming Issues

The Unication PPS should pull in the Radio Reference data without any issues. I am looking at the Unication G5+ as a possible near-in purchase. I’ve been studying the Unication PPS and it is a little complicated to use but it does pull in the required information from Radio Reference. It is just a challenge to see where the data ends up in the PPS and to organize the data as you would like. There are rules that you need to follow to make sure things work correctly in the long run. That all being said, I’m not comfortable enough yet with the Uniden G-Series PPS to dial-in to your system and sort things out. Hopefully some other folks here will respond and be able to offer more assistance than I can.
Before you go too far, are you sure that your Unication will receive the systems that you want to listen to? The Unication G3+ only receives VHF and UHF. It does not receive the 700/800 MHz band that many public safety agencies have moved to.
Also, keep in mind that the Unications are not really scanners. They are paging receivers that just happen to have some limited scanning functions. They are primarily designed to sit on one frequency and listen for the paging tones that some fire departments use to alert their stations and fire fighters.

That's a shame. Ive called unication usa a few times and always had great assistance.

Perhaps your dealer might be able to assist you and answer your inquiries. Unication often advise end users to contact their dealers.
I’ve been using G Series PPS V00.04.00.46 on a G5 7/800, and I really like it. It took me about 30 minutes to get comfortable with the program, but once I did, it was straightforward. It’s not nearly as hard as Motorola APX CPS R38.
There are a lot of folks here with deeper experience with the PPS than me, but perhaps I can start helping. I have a G5 UHF-D and program in several in-state and out-of-state P25T + Conventional UHF frequencies.
Can you be more specific what system you are trying to pull in? Is it a P25 Trunking System or Conventional System? Is the system not showing up in the PPS and/or radio when programmed?
I am on I am on PPS V0.4.0.41 and this is how I do it for a P25T System. Other's approach will vary:
In the import Radio Reference window: when you find your system and make your site and Talk Group selections (check-boxes), are you creating new "Zone/Knob position" (checkbox), "Importing primary & alternate control channels" (radio button), then clicking either "Import to Public Resource" or "Import to Profile"? - I do the latter.
See example of small P25T System import (I am importing all site and control channels, and importing 41 TGs - ignoring encrypted channels per the RR Database for this system): ↴
Once imported, they show up here in E2-1 in my program file (Profile) then I click on the TGID List and assign a background color to the appropriate agency (there are other custom settings but that's as far as I go on the TGs). ↴
Then I go to E7-1 where you can access the imported system TGs. In my case, I assigned Nashua to Zone 3, Knob Position 1. You can see Total TG: 41 count. Click on that square to access and adjust your Tone & Channel Settings and further down the page, assign your TGs to your scan list. Click "Save" and you are ready to "Program" E-19 to the radio↴
By the way, your are not locked in a Zone/Knob position. You can move them around. Just right-click on the Knob Position Box and a small dialog box will open to allow various actions: ↴
