How come I can't open up any of those attachments that you folks are making here when I download them? When I download them they come as modules php , then when you try to open them they won't open them.
Randy

To Randy, When you get the file down, right click>rename>click in the name box past the last t (in .txt)>backspace to the 6 in .p96 (don't forget the . in front of the first t in .txt).

To Lou, It appears Terrie now has a workable file, one more sample of your generous, kind help. BTW, I'm gonna miss those big teeth. :p

To Terrie, The light for all is dim in the beginning, but gets brighter over time with experimentation. Alas  , it also gets dim again later. Lou's help has shortened that time for brightness. :)

Thanks that did the trick. I noticed the note in the description box of Lou's file to remove the" txt" at the end of the extention but didn't realize that you had to do the right click and rename it.

can I copy my already programmed pro-96 banks/chs to win96?

I am using the pre-loaded v-scanner, and have edited some of the banks/chs. now i want to copy these details to my PC. how do I do this using the 20-289 cable and win96?

I have tried connecting the scanner to the pc with the cable and launching win96, then doing the following:

1st time: pressed the ^ key on the scanner then the "1" key to send the data. the process appears to complete, but I dont see any change in the win96, that iseverything still shows the default values.

2nd time: selected "download from scanner" in win 96. i get a "looking for header" message, followed by a "timed out waiting for header" message.

what am I doing wrong here?

thanks

Assuming you still have this file in the working folder'

You found this of course to be for cloning from scanner to scanner.

Clicking on the Help button then type in time, will produce a Timeout listing near the bottom of the listings. But, I've copied from Don's Help and will paste below the info you seek.

If the scanner does not begin sending data, or if Win96 displays an error message (e.g. Unable to open the COM port, timeout waiting for header, expected to read back data, etc.), you should attempt the following one at a time:

1. Double-check to ensure that you have the correct COM port selected.

2. Make sure the programming cable is firmly seated in the scanner’s jack and in the PC’s 9-pin connector.

3. Make sure that no other software is using the serial port. The usual suspects include PDA “sync” software, such as Palm’s HotSync. You must either close such software, or temporarily disable it (so that it’s no longer using the port).

That'll do it. Been a long time since I've heard they sold the wrong cable, but certainly in their history.
