I am new to this so please forgive me if this question has been asked and answered! Many of the fed.frequency
seem to require a NAC code. I have read the pro 97 manual over and over, and cannot locate any answer. My question is can I still receive the frequency without the NAC code?

NAC is a code used for APCO-25 frequencies which is digital.
A Pro-96/2096 can receive the frequency in FM mode.
The PSR-500 family can also receive the NAC code.

As you have a Pro-97, if the frequency is listed with a NAC code, you're not going to be able to monitor it anyway. The Pro-97 is an analog only scanner.
