I just bought a Pro 97 off of eBay and doing a lot of research until it gets here.
I've always programmed my scanners manually, but considering trying either Win97 or Scancat-Lite-Plus. Any major differences between these programs? Also,I'm wondering which cable to use to program the 97 with? I have seen references to using either the RS #20-289 or #20-047 and also other cables from sources other than Radio Shack.

Thanks,
Martin

The 20-289 is for serial ports.
The 20-047 is for USB ports.

The over-all consensus is that Win97 is FAR superior to the other program you suggested.

Yes Win97 actually works, ScanCat-Lite-Plus is more than likely to mess up what you try to program into the scanner, if it doesn't crash your computer first.

I own scancat and win 97,96 and your best bet is to run as fast as you can from scancat to win 97 I see that I am the 1 St to reply a the programing software and I am sure that everyone that has used both will agree with me. save your money and use Don Starrs win 97

Re: 97 Programming Cable

Thanks for the quick replies...looks like Win97 is the way to go...I've had all the computer crashes I need.

Another vote for Win97. I also prefer a USB cable. Enjoy your new scanner when it arrives.
