Hello All and Happy Holidays,

I am new to trunk scanning and have a question about programming in the following information:

DEC AFS Mode Description Tag
407 03-027 A Dispatch
409 03-031 A Tactical
410 03-032 A Car to Car

Is this even correct, In terms of info needed to program in something. I am new to the Pro97 and trunking. I have a Pro 39 as well and it works well. But I am quickly regretting the purchase of the Pro97.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DEC and AFS are formats for talkgroup ID numbers of and EDACS trunking system. You can chose either method during programming but not both. Scanner default is AFS. Description is the Alpha tag which can also be programmed into the 97. However, the tag can have up to 16 characters, thus Dispatch can actually be Police Dispatch which has 15 characters including the space. The tag will appear on the bottom line of display during coms replacing the associated programmed ID. Mode is the method for voice with A for Analog and is not used in programming.

This Pro-97 Cheat Sheet may help in programming the trunking system but Win97 with a programming cable is the best method.

I am from the city of yonkers. ...Now my friends can you please tell me if i can listen to them with my Radio shack pro-97. I think they are apco 25 or something....yet, if i try i listen to NYPD (bronx) but i think it is conventional, i used this for my frequencys,and it is definatly the bronx,But i just wanted you to confirm it was conventional, Not trunked..here is the codes i used, Use this site, go to Bronx, just scroll down.

So basically. Can i listen to yonkers PD with a pro-97 scanner?
Are the codes conventional or trunked?(for the bronx).
And, If i can listen to the Bronx Trunked..How,(only explain if i can do it with a pro 97,thanks for help bro.)

NYPD is simply conventional no trunking, Bronx included. Yonkers is also conventional but the Yonkers PD, according to the database, is APCO-25 which is digital and the Pro-97 will not work with that type of modulation.

What can i do to make this less static? Buy a new antena?what about the squalsh thing,under the volume (pro 97 scanner is the only one i own).
