My last new scanner was a pro 2006 that i still have and use. I purchased a used pro 197 off of ebay. when i received it. It was programmed for a county in TN. I turned it on and it started scanning there were a few local 2 meter repeaters that happened to be in it and the 197 worked ok.
I went to the Radio shack wiki page and read up on the 197. I first loaded the cable drivers with no problems I then downloaded the trial arc500 software and the 2 free RR. downloads, for Allegheny co. Pa. the first download is 272 conv. frequencies they are in scan list 0. To the left it says not scanned (272)
then i downloaded 49 city of Pittsburgh, trunking channel into scan list 1. Then i did a factory reset on the scanner. and uploaded the lists into the 197. After listening to the scanner most of the day 1 trunking broadcast came in,and nothing else. I started playing around and went to manual as soon as i got to a local PD. frequency there was activity, and a lot of it, i went back to scan and heard nothing again. I know i have to have something set wrong, any ideas?
While the 197 is scanning the screen reads top left a T flashing on and off G on solid and an S next row says scanning next row a number1 on solid and 2-9 going on and off next row numbers 12345678920 going on and off bottom row says Pittsburgh city on solid
