thats one of the many faults of the 96. i agree. there was a thread a while ago that was a debate over which is better, silver or black. i pearsonally think the 96 would look better in black. its also harder to see scratches on black scanners.

Yes, the 97 is the same way. Buy a case like the lil'Kase and it will help prevent scuffs and scratches. I have one of those silver arts and crafts paint pens to touch it up.

Could be worse, like the "Public Safety Yellow" Motorola's my Fire department uses!
A sturdier case would be nice though.

I think it is worse....

My pro-96 has been randomly making short lound busrsts of white noise!!
its does not sound like its coming from the volume knob, more digital sounding
its way louder than the volume of people talking, and it does it when im trunking and on analog channels?
any one else experience this?

It's whats on the inside that counts. If a leather jacket can make a nerd look cool, a leather case can help a pro 96.

I think it's pathetic that for five hundred bucks they couldn't stick this thing in a even kinda mil-spec case to prevent damage. My VX-150 was $120 bucks brand new in the box and that sucker will go thru about anything. For $499 they coulda rubberized her a little bit.
