Gotta easy question probably. Used to listen the ole scanner years ago, around 12-13. I have an old "Realstic" UHF VHF scanner, set it up recently, got all the codes. Now the problem is i live in Kern County, i can hear California Highway patrol, Bakersfield CITY police, but can not hear the county sheriff or fire. I used to be able to with this scanner,. I have heard of some depts changing to digital or encryptyd and what not... There IS someone online that has a live feed on the internet of the county sherriff. How did he get that? Is there a new scanner i should go buy?

I'm not sure what your problem might be with the sheriff and fire, I don't see anything special going on. There is a mix of vhf and uhf and they aren't digital. Maybe you need a better antenna?
