I initially had two feeds that were working well. The two feeds were initially on on computer and they worked without issue. I moved one of the feeds to another location and onto another computer to get better reception. I set up a third feed (California Highway Patrol Silver - Central Division Live Scanner Audio Feed) and am having nothing but problems with it. I am looking for any suggestions.

The biggest problem is that the feed does not "Buffer" correctly and gets locked up. You miss half the transmissions. You can rewind, but it will quickly go and use the buffer and lock up again.

The other problem is that there is a lot of background noise. Quick bits of sound that are sometimes loud, but are there all the time. It is just weird.

I am talking with the Administrator who set up the feed to see if we can find the problem. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

To try and fix the problem from my end, I have used different scanners, different input types (sound board on the computer or USB sound card) different computers, different ISP's many miles apart, and many different variations of the above. I have tried different streaming software on different computers. Nothing has resolved the problem.

Any ideas?

I wonder if this is what you see with WinAmp or some other player. Try using a different player, even WMP. I had this condition when I was unable to connect to a source. It was just repeating what it had in cache. The real problem is most likely unable to connect to the source stream, or at least connect properly.

Make sure you are running the latest version of ScannerCast. An older version did that from time to time.

What port number are you streaming to? Is that port "enabled" on your router?

It does it no matter what player I use. And yes it sounds like the cache is repeating. It will get part way through it then stop the transmission.

I am running the latest version of ScannerCast v.14

Today it sounds like it is competing with other feeds (Fresno County Sheriff Metro Dispatch Live Scanner Audio Feed). One of my other feeds keeps overriding it. You can hear them pop on occasion. Sounds like a scene from Poltergeist...

I did load up Simplecast and all my problems went away, but I'm not about to pay $140 for a license and I'm certainly not going to reset the feed every four hours with the unregistered copy.

Problem solved! No idea how, but my Feed Administrator Richard Tidd deleted the problem feed and created a new feed. Everything is working fine now.

Thank you Rich!
