According to the crappy instructions, word for word:
1. Put the driver CD into your computer [i did that]
2. Plug the USB cable into any available USB port [did that too]
3. Windows will prompt you with a "new hardware found," [which it did], and when the wizard asks for a driver [it did NOT] use the "browse for driver" button [this was NOT available] and point to the folder on the cd marked "Drivers" [the folder is entitled Driver, and what the hell does "point to it" mean?]
4. Double click on the "Driver folder" [i did and it just opens the folder, showing all the files, nothing else happens]
5. Then click "next" and that screen should display the driver's ".inf" file [there is NO 'next' button at all, and I found no inf file; i have absolutely no idea what this is talking about]
6. Accept that file and it will install the device driver for usb access - and - install a serial port driver for the serial/comm port assignments. You may be asked to do this twice [why the hell would it ask me to do it twice???], just be sure to point to the folder on the cd titled Drivers. Normally the Serial Port number will be the Next Highest Port number above the ones already in use on your computer.
Sorry if I'm an idiot, but it sounds like these instructions are from Mars....
