Please don't start a new thread every time you want to post about this subject. Add the new information to existing threads. It's easier for me to find that way, and it keeps the information in one location.

Are you still using the PCMCIA serial card on the Compaq computer, or is it a built in serial port?

Does the program run ok (i.e. decode the system) without attemping to control a 396?

Is the port number for scanner control set correctly in the configuration screen?

Is the port speed set to match the port speed setting on the 396T?

Is the correct profile selected for the 396T?

Mike, Pro96Com author.

Now if you could merge this one into the other two that were started before these, we'd have it all in one place :)

Mike,

I was able to find another one started by the OP of the thread and have merged them, is there another one that needs merging?

I also stuck the thread.

There were 4 at one time. I don't see them now. At any rate, I'm still waiting for answers to the last questions I asked.

Mike:

I have something odd that I don't remember seeing in previous versions (I'm using v-1.5.0 build 73) but I also have the problem that this is a new system and it may be on system side instead of Pro96Com.

Refer to the screen shot below. Notice that there is activity showing on the 4th channel. That activity has been there for the over 1/2 hour and indeed there is no activity on that frequency. The activity arrow will move to another channel when something else happens but when done it will return to that one. The reported activity on that channel will change if a channel grant is made...indeed as I refer to it right now, it has changed since I took the screen shot below, but once again the activity that was there is no longer on the channel but it still shows on the screen. Bug in the software or bug in the new system being set up here? BTW, this is the only trunking system in the area (not counting a couple of LTR's) so I can't look at another P25 to see.

Lou,

Mike may have a more graceful solution but if the bigger hammer technique sounds tempting ;) try this.

Double click on a active call or if it lasts long enough, click on the call and then click on the hold talkgroup button. Let the talkgroup appear a couple times then release the hold talkgroup button. This works for me to get the uniden scanner that PRO96COM is controlling to be controlled correctly. The indication on the screen prior to this "ahem" elegant solution looks quite similar to what you're describing.

'Course I always defer to any suggestions Mike may make or requests he may have from you for further info.

I can't tell without seeing a control channel dump unfortunately.

I will take a few minutes tomorrow (when they are active) to try and get you a dump when this happens.

Mike,

Attached here are two zip files. The "logs" one contains all of the files from the system including about 15 minutes of dump during when this "stuck" situation came up. (Some of them also have stuff from the previous couple of days, but the dump is only this 15 minutes or so.) The channel became active about 9:51 thru about 9:54. This happened while the other main channel being used (2) was tied up on a TG 79 conversation (it ran from about 9:48 thru about 9:55). The first of the two screen shots shows this and the second shows the apparent stuck channel (4) some two minutes later after no activity was on the system and just before I shut down Pro96Com.

Hopefully I have supplied what you need to determine what is what.

Odd that it never timed out. I show that private call starting at 9:53:28 and ending at 9:53:52. It should have timed out after that. I can't find anything in the code at the moment that would cause this.

Pro96Com Shuts Down

Hi All!

The problem I am having with Pro96Com is that when I have the State Of Colorado system running off of Cheyenne Mt. (853.0500) the program will shut down (every time, it may run for a bit, but it will dump). If I run West Creek 868.9375 I have no problems, if I run ElPaso County system I have no problems. It is only with Cheyenne Mt. State of Colorado system. Anyone having this problem, or just me.

Hi Al,

Mike has been working with some of you guys on the DTRS system in Yahoo Pro96Com group so you may need to replace your version of the software.

Checking the database pages for DTRS and El Paso Co , I noticed the DTRS Cheyenne Mt freqs have been rebanded, whcih may be the problem with some versions of the software. Apparently West Creek has not been changed yet. Also, it appears some towers in El Paso Co have been rebanded but some towers may not be required. Could you be running the program on a tower which was rebanding was not required?

The above two posts moved from the Scanning Software forum to this thread in the Decoder forum.

As Frank points out this is a problem that Mike is trying to work through. It is not just on your CO system. The build 73 version was released with that note in the zip file.

I'm still looking for clues as to why this is happening. Are you by chance using the grant log on the activity page? I haven't found anything in this area yet, but others seem to think it might be in that area of the code...

Pro96Com Help!

I have Pro96Com running fairly well with a PRO-2096 on my desktop computer- but would like to go mobile with my Sony VAIO laptop.

For some reason I can't get the same PRO-2096 and cable that works on the desktop to do anything on the laptop- using the same drivers! In fact, if I have the scanner attached to the laptop it continually crashes the computer until I disconnect it.

As I stated I am using a Sony VAIO laptop on Windows XP with all the current Windows updates. I am using a GRE 30-3290 Scanner/PC USB interface cable and the associated driver.

I would really like to go out and pick up some more P-25 sites than the one closest to the house.

Any help you could give me would be appreciated!

Odd, I haven't seen that kind of issue happen. What exactly do you mean by crashes the computer? Blue Screen?

Yes- Windows then reloads saying it is recovering from a major malfunction and asking it you want to start it in safe mode etc...

Sounds like a driver issue on the USB cable. Have you used that machine for anything else with the cable? Like Programming a radio?
