Problems with Win97 downloading. HELP PLEASE!

Okay, have my pro-97 here in Marysville Wa. It came with Scancat-Lite programming. I like some of it but with 5 open banks want to add more programming. So I opened program then chose Web Import. Loggen in and chose King county Wa. I then chose Seattle PD. I put it as empty bank 6 then chose to import this,
Next I get the Main Win97 screen. It shows channels and city names in lower right hand window, however big window to left with alpha tags ect is EMPTY. just has delay checked.

I then chose to upload to scanner. It says it uploaded but I still only have the Scancat banks programmed. Shows nothing in bank 6.
I tryed other banks but nothing.

So I am thinking maybe a problem becasue origianal programming was not Win97 but this scancat.

So next I just start a new template. I again choose only Seattle PD from King county list. Knowing that just Seattle is a big trunk channel program.
I upload and now scanner says ALL CHANNELS LOCKED>
I had saved original Scancat program and reloaded it with no problem.

May I ask what I may be doing incorrectly?
I just want to keep what was programmed and add freqs for Seattle PD and King county citys police depts.

One last question. I pulled up skagit and whatcom county and it does not show ANY police freqs. Is this because no one has put them on the server yet? I have them I would share.

I use both scancat and win 97 and i like both but hands down win 97 is better,I have found that what is programed with scancat or win 97 seems to works fine with each other. now that given i have been to the radio shack in marysville,everett, stanwood and a few more and i know that they do use scancat to down load stuff from our area into the new scanner, but if you dont have them do that, I have the original copy of what is installed on the pro-97 right out of the box before they play with it , if you want i will send you a copy in win 97 format. good luck.

I am also now guessing that Win97 when importing from RR does not include any conventional freqs? Am I correct there?
Do you add those manually on win 97?

WIN 97 just got upgraded today and now imports conventional it's V1.10 so you can download the update and read the new directions that Don Starr has listed.

I see they have the 2052 in stock in Mill creek and Lynwood and Seattle. I guess I can buy it at a store. Do you think its worth it. Or should I wait too for rebanding?

Cool thanks for the update to don starr's program i just got it and found that as far as king and snohomish county go, there it no conentional updates yet for them. if i where you iceshark i would waite for the rebanding thing, you have spent good money on a great scanner learn to use it and just waite and see about the rebanding thing, our area should not see the reband thing till later this year at the soonest i bet it will be longer, so play with what you got, the 2052 will only go down in price and wil be replaced by something that will work better and cost more and will be something that will work after the rebanding.

Wierd Lowboy, I loaded file and It will only scan banks 0-3. Even when selection band with King county on it. WOnt scan that bank! I can manually move up and down channels. But no scan???

Ok, that file works like a charm! Now for learning purpose. You loaded King county. I also wanted Seattle police proper. So I did web import. Chose just Seattle police, UW Police and Seattle center police. Also chose Seattle simulcast for 16 channels. Chose channels to skip 1st channel on bank 5.
Programed in. and I have bank 5. But only Seattle SImulcast channels. Not Seattle police. It shows Seattle police freqs in bottom right window. But not in Main win 97 window again. I can not figure out what I am doing wrong. I wil send file to you. Should I try without simulcast channels. Hex self program with win97 so I should not haev to mess wih tehm?

Ok, I see you did program Seattle PD on King county stuff. My bad. When I try and import stuff the channels bank on WIN97stays blannk. No channels. But the bottom right hand subgroup box does show freqs. I am not listing a starting channel or subgroup before importing could that be a problem. See my file.

not sure what you are asking when i use the we import thing i pick state conuty then you must check talkgroups and freq then check import this system then it will ask for target bank, bank name and what channel you want to start with with a trunked system start with the second channel in the bank. then after you import the system you want to save it name it and up load it to your scanner and dont forget enable the bank that you have installed it in, if you want i can send you a win 97 with only seattle police installed in it i will put it bank 5 and banks 0 to 4 will remain to same.

I am doing everything you have listed. The only thing I dont do is put a starting channel number for talk group and the choice below it. Altough I have tried that too. When I choose save, the window comes up with the trunk channels I choose. In this case Seattle PD. They are listed in bottom right window. I can choose channels and it shows them all there. But in the main freq big window to the left (we are talking about on the pc monitor) All channels show empty except delay is checked. Shouldnt it import them to the channels automaticly?

yes it should and i dont know why it is not, the file that i sent in the e-mail yesterday should have everything you need in bank 5 i used it today and it only picked up Seattle police i tryed it in everett
but trying to listen to 800mhz from 30 mile out and given that the land is not flat between everett and seattle i dont belive that you would get great sig. in marysville or everett for that matter.

Yes the file you gave me works EXCELLENT!. I am just frustrated as I am trying to learn to program scanner myself for knowledge down the line. I have your file to use and fall back on so I am safe to play around. It just wont program for me like it does for you. Gotta be something I am missing.

Here is what I do,
Open win97
Chose webimport and sign in.
Chose King county
then only highlight Seattle pd and Uw pd (all trunked)
then import
then say save
Window closes and Win97 bank infor window opens
Chose bank 5 were I put them in on prior window
Chose to start on second channel.
then go to Bank freq window
shows Bank 5 and shows Seattle PD freqs in lower right hand window.
Left channel list shows no freqs in it. Just delays are all checked.
Right to scanner and nothing is there in bank 5.
Yes banks up to 4 are all used. It is next available bank if that is a question.
What Am I doing wrong?

Ok i know what you are doing wrong you need to import the talk groups and the freqs at the same time, it will say sites: 16, talkgroups: 42 in the sites box you need to check the freqs you want and in the talkgroups you need to check the the people you want to listen to.... note that with the pro-97 you realy only need the control channel as the 97 will find all of the right freqs. the main thing that you need is the talk groups ID'S and the control channel, you can read about this on page 65 of the pro97 book that came with you scanner.

Hey if does not help i can call you around 7 Pm on thursday and i will walk you throgh the whole thing its no problem i know programing that thing can be a pain in the rear.
