Ok i bought this antenna all i can say is save your self some money and dont buy it, i paid $52. The antenna that came with my my pro-39,51,2051 and 97 work better then this thing can, 30 feet above the ground 25-1300mhz spent the day playing with it and all i can say what a waste of time and money.

I bought this same antenna, wish I had read this before I bought it. This thing is horrible, base antenna works better on my 2096 and 2052. Any suggestions for a better antenna are welcome.

Hi
I have a Par MON 3 and it recieves great in all the bands , iTS even good on the 800 band on my trunk system . I GAINED 2 bars on my signal meter over the dicone I had
up on the roof. Its up at least 25ft and I used halifax 240 uf coax .Check it at universal radio 58.95 . It weighs 1lb and wind doesnt hurt it .

I know you can spend less, but I've been pretty well satisfied with the omni discone from ScannerMaster. It's one antenna that's up and I don't have to think about it. If there's a shortcoming to it is maybe distant VHF, anything over say 35 miles you'll maybe not get...around or under 30 miles VHF is does fine with (for me). N-female bottom antenna connection.

I'm curious - did you try replacing that cheesy RG58 cable they send with this monstrosity with a good cable - say some 9913? RG58 is terrible to use at higher freqs; the higher the frequency, the more the losses. It's good marketing to send the cable with the antenna, but when you send some cheap junk, you're only shooting yourself in the foot

no i did not but as a bird flys i am only trying to recive 800mhz from about 20 miles out even with a jucnk cable like rg58 i should be able to hear something it also performs bad on vhf, its a good looking antenna but after i recived it i did the math on the elments and it should be good on reciveing something next door.

Well i'd hate to go against everyone. But I actually am glad I purchased my procomm spider antenna. I mounted it outside on my fence and used 20 ft rg8 cable. It's hooked up to my rs pro 96 and I receive just great! So far all bands pickup much better than the stock antenna. Unfortunately i dont have any other antenna's to compare it to. but i pick up a lot more fd and pd traffic than I do with my standard duckie.

Also, I purchased mine off ebay for a lot less.

what frq range are you useing it on, how long have you had it and could you please post the link to the ebay page that you bought it from, as i also bought mine from a e-bay dealer, could you please let us know about how far out you are reciveing the sig. from, i messed around with the one that i bought all day and i must say that this antenna should be passed over, now if there is something that i am missing i would glad to put this thing back up in the air i have been into the scanning thing for years about 30 of them and i belive that you can spend the same amount of money and get more for your money with something else.

I just bought one for $20 new and it seems to work well for A/C right now. I'm feeding a 2045 w/ RG6 and a screw on BNC but I can't mount it outside on a mast but may take it mobile and see what happens. I don't have an analyzer but I'm going to test it against a rubber duck on various frequncies and an APCO 25 system.

Well you brought a thread that is just over two years old, talk about digging up the dead maybe I will drag this old antenna out and buy a better coax for it and give it one more try. Thanks for reminding that I still have this antenna.
