I have been reviewing programming on a 1095, TRX-1 and TRX-2 and found some differences in the way a p-25 system was programmed,. One radio has only the control channels programmed for different sites and the other two have all the frequencies for each site programmed,. All three radios are working. Is there any advantage to programming all the frequencies for each site?

I have notice the same condition too with my TRX-2. I programmed local P-25 agencies and only saw the control frequencies listed. When I asked an experienced TRX-1 user, he said it was OK. However, with a database update, ALL the frequencies appeared. NOW, I am confused as what is going on. I am receiving some agencies and not others in the clear that I should. Good question. Hope to get info.

My whistlers use the data on the control channel to operate, so if you only program the control
channel, it will operate fine. Some systems change control frequencies on occasion so I program
all the frequencies in the system, that way when the control channel changes, your covered and
your radio will remain operational.
If your only using the control and your scanner stops receiving. Chances are the control channel
has changed and you will need to program the new channel. I program all the frequencies and that
way your always covered....
Have fun..

For Motorola systems you need only to program the control channel and alternates. Harris systems can use any frequency as a control channel and thus you have to enter all of them.
