other then win96 is there any other good software to program scanners

Nothing to compare to Win96. ScanCat Lite will partially program a Pro-96 and many other scanners. However, ScanCat will never be able to program any trunking tables to the scanner nor will it be able to program any new tables when rebanding comes around. Win96 will.

I would stay away from scan-cat lite for the pro-96. I tried it on my pro-2096, just because I already had the software. It would take almost 45 minutes to upload to the scanner.

I agree with Frank, nothing really compares to win96 for that scanner.

sflyersguy...Is it a Radio Shack scanner you are trying to program? If the answer is yes, have you tried to program the scanner using WinXX software?
If the answer is no to the 2nd question, then you can't go wrong using WinXX software.

In addition to Win96, I also use Scan*Star with it and my other computer controllable radios.
