• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello. This question does not pertain to trunking really, but maybe someone can help. I just bought a KMC high band VHF mobile and then realized that my EDACS 4 ProGrammer doesn't do the KMC. I've only owned MDX's so far and what I have has worked fine. I have no idea what "revision" of ProGrammer I have, but does anyone know what "revision" of ProGrammer has the capability of doing KMC radios? If anyone can steer me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

The KMC looks like it can be programmed with version 18 of the Programmer software.

To find out which version you have, open the software and then select help abd then "About Programmer".

Mine says R03A03, does that mean I have version 3? I don't see KMC anywhere in my list of supported radio... :(

Yep, you have version 3.

You should be able to create a personality and write to the radio without reading it. If you want to see what is in the radio at present, you'll have to upgrade your software. It is up to version 20 I think.

The only thing you have to worry about is losing the tracking data and the feature encryption. You can read and save that info using the Radio Maint program. It is highly advisable to do that too. Once you have those items, you can recover the radio. If you don't save that data and something does go wrong, it can get very expensive to put it back to normal.

The personality file will do nothing to recover the radio if something goes wrong. If you just want to know what is in the radio, then you must upgrade.

Anyone know where I can find an older copy of ProGrammer? It doesn't need to be able to handle anything newer than M-RK II's. I haven't had much luck with Google searches.

Open your wallet and pay for it. It's not Kenwood cheap but it's more easily available from MA/Com than Motorola CPS.

And you better not be publicly asking for copyrighted software on here.

My question could have been phrased differently.......The dealer in my area won't sell any copies of the software. Does anyone have contact info so that I can purchase it?

Call 1-800-528-7711. I think the you choose option 3 for software services. I'm pretty sure the software is around $1200. With the new software licensing, copies can no longer be made and passed around.
