Does anybody know of any businesses in northern utah that will programam the BCD396T? I got mine in the mail the other day however, I'm quite the noob. I'm mostly interested in monitoring Hill AFB and the police/fire/ems services around the Layton area. Thanks for any help you can offer:)

Good Luck!

Unless you already have the frequencies use by Hill AFB, you probably will not be able to get them. The Web Master of RadioReference.com received and has complied with a request to block any information relating to the military and specifically Hill.

I can't help you with programming your scanner because I am not familiar with the one you have. I have my hands full with my own, but I have found them to be mostly straight forward if you follow the instructions in your owner's manual. Actually, programming is half of the fun of scanning.

Not been much help, have I?

Download the (free) UASD program from Uniden - it makes programming the scanner MUCH easier. Check in the Yahoo 396 group's files section to see if anyone has uploaded UASD (or usd) files for the area you want.

I've never received any orders to take my Hill webpage page down. Until I do, it can be found at:
http://www.qsl.net/kd7rto/utah/fedtrnk.htm

I don't own a 396, but for the BC246D, I recommend Butel's ARC246. UASD for the 246 is a mess. It is not free, and I wouldn't give Uniden ten cents for it.

Thanks n6orz. I am able to pick up HAFB on these frequencies, but they chop in and out. Is that normal? The signal strength shows as being quite strong. Also, I'm pretty new to this, let me explain what I've done so far:
I can only hear HAFB if I program the freqs in under "Conventional" even though I know that Hill uses Motorola. When I program the same freqs in under Motorola 800, I can see that the signals are being picked up by the scanner, but no sound is emitted, also there are no ID numbers displayed as there are when I am scanning/trunking Davis County. I read your other post mentioning altering text file...??? That sounds pretty advanced... Is that something I will have to try to receive HAFB properly?
Thanks

You need to program in Base 406.15 MHz, Offset 12.5 kHz.

That pertains to the trunker program, which I used to generate the files on the fedtrnk page. It does take some expertise, so I share the work I have done on my webpage.

If you can help identify any of the talkgroups, please drop me an email.
