To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all. Newbie here.
Quick question.
Can someone provide a quick lesson on the LTR, or if already done on these boards, provide a link to info?
Was not aware of any LTR systems in RI but it now seems as though I found one. Anyone know how many there might be?
Not too knowledgable about the LTR radio system, however I have a Standard GX4800UT mobile 2-way that I want to program for a friend to use for work. He has 2-way in his work vehicle. He wants to use my radio for a base.
What do I need for programming info to get this to work?
He has permission from his boss to use this on the freqs the business uses but reading the boards on LTR, I am a little confused. No...a lot confused, on what needs to be done. That is if I/we can get the programming correct. Do we need to contact the system operator for info? I do have the software to do the programming.
How do I get all the freqs I need?
Is there a way to use my pro2067 to do any of the decoding for the info I need? I do get a 6 digit number if I put in the 1 freq I do have and put the scanner on LTR
Could there be only 1 freq or does there need to be a certain number to LTR correctly?
Thanks in advance for any info/help.
Cos.

You will need to get with the system operator. He will probably want to program the radio himself and he will also want to collect his monthly fee for having the radio on his system.

first the techical aspects, with LTR you have to have the LCN as well as the talkgroups correct

now the legal aspects, you need to get with your communications provider, so that they authorize the radio being on the system (as said above).. the boss might have said it was ok for him to have a radio, but the system operator (who collects money for the use of the system) may not like that.

if you have never programmed an LTR before, call the communications shop and have them do it.

Yes Technically you will need to know the LCn, talk group, area bit, every frequency in the system, whether the data is inverted or not, etc, before you can program an LTR radio.

Not to mention the software, cables, etc... As stated previously, it would be best to let your system's tech guys do the programming unless you are a fully qualified expert in the programming of this radio, and know all the important information pertinent to your system.
