So i have seen in fire trucks on their radios each channel has a name/abbreviation for the frequency so they can easily know what frequency they are on or using. For example it will say TUU L. They easily know what frequency they are using instead of just seeing numbers. My question is can you program scanners with abbreviations??? Instead of seeing 151.1900 it would say TUU L. Please help if anyone knows the answer!!!

Thanks, Zane

It depends on the make/model of scanner. Several do have alpha tag capability, such as the newer digital scanners, but not all.

Zane,

You probably got an instruction manual with your scanner and that will tell you what the radio will and will not do. If you don't have the manual you can probably find it online with a Google search.

I did some research and found that the scanner i have, BC355C does not and i found that the BCT15X would be great for alpha tagging.
