Programming cable for 436

Am about to order a 436. Is the programming cable the same as for the 396XT?

No. The 436 takes a USB to USB-mini cable.

And the 436 comes with the aforementioned cable needed to program/control/charge it.
(although I always recommend external charging)

BCD 436HP

I am wanting to purchase the BCD436HP as my first digital scanner. From what I have read it comes with only a USB cableand rechargable batteries. It doesn't give information on how to charge the rechargable batteries. Im assuming the USB cable will charge the batteries. I wont have my computer on all the time to charge batteries. Is there anything included with this scanner to plug in the USB cable to a wall outlet to charge it? Thanks.

The AC adapter is purchased separately..Although Not many users would recommend using the radio as a charger..Best to get a charger/NiMh combo,HomeDepot has decent Energizer/Charger combo packs..about 16-18 dollars.

If you absolutely refuse to charge your batteries in an external, dedicated battery charger, basically any cellphone charger or other charger that will give you "USB power" will work. Everything from the cubes that are 69¢ each in a big jar at the checkout counter of the 7-Eleven on up. But keep in mind that you get what you pay for.

ALSO IT ONLY CHARGES WHEN THE SCANNER IS TURNED OFF. No I am not fussing I knew this before I bought mine.
