Looking for some pointers or references on how to best program on this P25 Simulcast in the county here.

Particularly, I am interested in the Fire-Tac operations so that I can hear traffic on them when I am at a fire location. I'm just not sure how that all works so I don't know if I have a programming issue or i'm expecting to hear something that I can't with this scanner?

Also, I've heard about only programming the control channels as that is where comms will be heard? I can post my programming if someone wants to take a look and make suggestions.

Thanks.

It would help if you told us which system you are referring to. Please post a link.

Here is an "Easier to Read" manual for your scanner:

From the manual:
"Control Channel Only Scanning - With Motorola trunking frequencies, you do not have to program voice channel frequencies. "

It may still be a good idea in case the ocontrol channel changes.

Hello Doc and thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure what you mean by posting a link the system?

It is P25 Phase 2 Simulcast.

It is Camden County New Jersey, Public Safety, Fire and EMS dispatch, Camden City, Cherry Hill, North, South, East, West Fire Tac, and each one has Fireground Tacs assigned to them.

I can get the dispatch, Camden City, Cherry Hill, and the N, S, E, and W regionals, but not the Fire Ground Tacs even when I am on the fireground.

Should I do screen shots of my Fav list, attach my hpe file for it, or whatever will best show where I am with this?

Thanks again.

I don't see any of those listed in the link you posted... Do you?

On Radio Reference I don't see them. But when I am in Sentinel using that DB, they are visible.

It really comes down to the fact that I am really lost with the way to program properly. Maybe some screen shots of Sentinel would help?

I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Thanks

You can give it a shot, but if they are encrypted, they won't work even if you program them in.

Nothing on Fire / EMS is encrypted. Police is all encrypted so I don't go there at all.

I think it may be that I am confusing talk groups with the frequencies being used. Also, Camden County is Simulcast from multiple sites.

For example, Camden City has its own TGID, Cherry Hill has its own, and they use the N, S, E, W frequencies for their communications by TGID.

Confusing for me to say the least.

Thanks.

I think what you are looking for is in the link above. Those are the conventional analog fireground channels. They are not part of the Trunked system. They are also simplex and can only be heard within a few yards of whoever is transmitting.
