• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have been successfully programming 5200s and 5700s for some time.

Recently, with no changes to my set up I get a comms error. Unable to read or write to the radios. Error message attached.

The radios go into Program mode as they look from the factory but as soon as I power cycle them the current programming is still available to use.

Has anyone seen this before? Was wondering if a Win 10 update got me. I did uninstall and re install the UART driver but still get same error message.

If I reinstall the KPG-D1 should I cancel the license in the LMC first and then reauthorize?

Thanks in advance

Peter

Second time I heard this.
I think it was a win10 update, but I have not encountered it yet.

I have to ask, is that a pure win10 pc or virtual machine or Mac being used?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes Win 10 on Parallells on Mac.

It worked well for quite some time... Adding radio features never worked at all but the programming and read/write was fine.

I now have another Windows computer and plan to move it there.

One question will I need a new Account file for the new computer just to run the CPS side- ie no radio feature authorizations ?

Peter

From day one, I have poster here, dont use anything else but a pure windows PC install
To push licenses.
You can do what you want with the flu, but at your own risks.

That being repeated, if you have a 5 seat LMC account license, yes, you can install the account file on the pure windows PC and see your feature files. Moot point. Once that are in a radio after 72 hours, they can not be removed. So dont worry about that.

Now, how many seats do you have? If 1, then you need another account file. I have some
If you only have 1 seat.
