• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello

I’m having a problem reading a Motorola APX8000. I have completely erased the program version 35.0 and reinstalled it on two different computers and I’m having the same problem each time, where it will read the radio but when it gets to the end of the read process and is in the “verification” mode it stops and the program goes “not responding”. I even purchased another programming cable. PMKN4012B and it still continues to do the same thing. Here is a photo of the screen I get. In the Tuner mode it will read the radio no problem. It’s just in the programming mode that I have this problem. I completely disabled all firewalls and all virus protection and still experienced the same problem. Very frustrating!!!! Thank you in advance for any helpIMG_3857.jpeg

Haven’t had this issue and I’m running an APX900 FW35 with r35 CPS. What FW is your radio currently on? Have you tried upgrading the FW to see if it remedies this issue?

Here and there
So far haven't noticed any issues with it doing this running 35/35 firmware. Is your code plug huge? Haven't had any issues with a 3 zone, and 7 zone code plug. If it's large like 20+ zones etc it may take a few.

3rd side button or lowest side button (excluding ptt) press 5 times until it goes into service mode and it'll give the data.
I have version R14.00.03. I would imagine I need to update the firmware. Just never needed to because didn’t need to change channels or any programming. But now I have a mess. I’m about ready to use this thing for target practice.

I reached out to Motorola support and they have been less than helpful. I’ve received more suggestions here than they have provided to be honest!!
