I'd like to program a few frequencies from this page: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=4326

I've noticed that beside the frequency there's an entry for "Tone". One frequency I'd like to program is Investigative 860.21250, Tone:110.9 PL. Using Win97, how would I program the tone? The only thing I can think of is that I have to enter that value in the CT/DC field.

You got it. In WinXX software, PL=CT (CTCSS) & DCS/DPL=DC.
Of course you never have to program the tones.

Thanks. So since it's not necessary, is there any advantage of programming the tones?

Only if there are other agencies close by that are using the same frequencies. It will keep you from having interference from these other agencies.

You program in those tones, and the scanner will only "open squelch" on a transmission that has that tone in it.

I see. It seems that taking the time to program the tone is worth it. Thanks for the info.

It will also help to reduce unwanted interferance from stronger nearby transmitters such as paging, etc. Albeit your mileage may vary.

I got your PM and will send reply to you.

Here is Revised version of the p97 file that I made up for you awhile ago. Bank 9 now has the 80 conventional frequencies listed in the database for the T.O. area in it.

Also a second one with a couple of LTR systems in banks 4 & 5 to try out.
