I'm currently reprogramming BCT-15x scanners using the import tool on FreeSCAN.

My questions is that I'm in South Lake Union close to downtown so which site do I choose? Do I need more than one?

I'm hoping to setup the three scanners like this
1. NORCOM / Eastside
2. King County Sheriff
3. ValleyCom

I imported the "Seattle Simulcast" as the site but it doesn't have any frequencies in it.

So I've actually got it scanning all the sites but only the sheriff - it seems to be working great.

My question now am I "slowing" down the scanner by scanning all these sites?

Well there is a small delay that is added to each site - assuming you can hear all the sites you programmed - when it samples it for the control channel

Having multiple sites programmed is really most useful when you're mobile - if you're using it as a base, you should only program the site that's closest to you (or has the traffic you want to hear, assuming that not all talkgroups are simulcasted across all sites). Otherwise you're wasting time and resources scanning sites you can't hear.

Someone who is more familiar with the King County system can comment on the simulcasting, but if it were me, that's the way I would go...HTH...Mike

If you do a search of the Washington state forum this question has been asked tons of times and has been answered tons of times.
