Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I was wondering if anyone has seen this before.

I'm running Astro CPS R13.00

I am trying to help a friend out with his XTS 2500's, it is obvious that these both have been modified by someone. One of the radios with a Model II faceplate has a Model III code plug and the other Model III faceplate has a different Model III code plug.

How ever the model numbers on the chassis both come back to Model II...

I am having issues with these radio won't let me adjust the zones or amount of channels in them, they are both flashed with FPP and numerous other things. If anyone has any advice or has come across this before please send me a PM.

Never had to program a radio that was this "hacked" before... These are obviously eBay specials...

I want to try and either help my buddy with these or point him in the correct direction.

Thanks!

Welcome to the world of a FPP radios. Your stuck with 16 channels per zone and the first 15 zones are permenent FPP zones that can not be changed or altered.

Motorola fpp

well i dont think your totally screwed yet the FPP function is set by zone and yes FPP zones can only hold 16 channels but you do not have to have the first fifteen zones set for FPP I own a xts5000 vhf unit and thought i was going to have the same problem you think you have but you can start unchecking FPP in the zones main screen whwere the zone name is dispalyed do this backwards zone 15,14 13 and etc..... now that that is said if you want to use the FPP feature of the radio you can leave FPP setup on zones 1 through five like i did leaving the rest of the zones to hold as many channels as you want if you do not want to use it go all the way down the list of zones backwards and uncheck FPP but if you uncheck the option in zone 3 we will say none of the zones after that are FPP capapable anymore and the software will not allow you to check the option so i would say uncheck all of them on the model 2 and leave the first 4 or 5 zones setup for FPP ON the model 3 but this is just the way i would set it up the rest is up to you and let me know if you need anymore help.

I would just send the model 2 off to be changed to a model 3. Why waste an entire FPP set up because of a simple housing? The housing cant cost much more than $100. If I was the OP, I would look into ebay and grab a housing, then politely ask for some help on here to help me change the casing. Unless he really doesnt care about FPP, then that would be fine..
